Hi, my name is Andrew, and I use modern open source technology to build products for startups and businesses, whether that be a static SPA landing page or marketing site, a data-driven web application, or a conversational interface.

I especially love working with React, Node.js, and the extended JavaScript ecosystem to create engaging products that perform and scale well. For Voice apps, I work with the Amazon AI platform.

I am experienced in UI and UX design, and we'd work together to first define and understand your needs. I'll then guide you on the right tools for the project, and how best to bring your product to market.

My working hours are flexible, and I have worked with many clients across time zones. I value professional, frequent communication, and believe that to be the cornerstone of a successful and rewarding client-developer relationship.

React Single Page Application

Gramercy is my business site. It is a server-less client-rendered static SPA (single page application).

SEO: As it is a SPA rendered entirely client side, to alleviate the risk of a bot not being able to render the site when crawling, I send the HTML with the initial packet using React-Snapshot. I use React-Helmet to manage the document head - keeping the metadata (title and metadata) in synch when a user navigates the app in a browser.

UI Framework: React-Bootstrap and Material-UI

Routing: React Router 4

Deployment: Continuous git-based deployment via CLI.

WordPress: John de Laeter Centre

JdLC is an analytical facility for Earth & Environmental Science research - a collaboration venture between Curtin University, the University of Western Australia, the Geological Survey of WA, & the CSIRO.

This site is built with a custom template and the WordPress CMS.

iOS App: Woodside Australian Science Project

WASP is an iPad application. It is an initiative supported by Woodside and Earth Science Western Australia. It provides hands-on activities and resources for the teaching of the Earth Science component of the Australian Curriculum.
