I specialise in creating successful PR/Media campaigns that get results.
As a freelance journalist/writer, with a writing style that's been described as informative, witty and refreshing, I have had close to 200 articles published nationally and internationally, in the fields of health, fitness, nutrition, beauty, lifestyle, travel and general features.
In 2002 I founded Jake Public Relations, a boutique agency for small to medium businesses. I have achieved diverse media coverage, including television, radio, online and print. I have presented at conferences and seminars and contribute to various industry publications.
I have ventured back into the field of freelance writing/content creation as writing is one of my true loves and perfectly complements PR.

The secret?
V-Matrix, a high-performance complex with ingredients programmed to work on the root of the problem, rebuilding the mesh that forms the network of the dermis, to restore firmness from the inside.
From four wheels to four legs, Carey Mustow from Nowra, NSW has always had an animal instinct for business. After successfully owning and operating Don Sims Smash Repairs for nine years, he decided to take a leap of faith and follow his passion for animals.
Owning three dogs, two cats, three horses and several chooks certainly qualified Carey for his new career choice – a dog groomer and franchisee for Aussie Pooch Mobile.
But what Carey didn’t anticipate was the barking success this new venture would be on both personal and professional levels.
Starting his Aussie Pooch Mobile Franchise in 2013, Carey awarded ‘Best APM Franchise under 12 months’ and identified as one of the fastest growing franchises ever.
An alarming 63% of Australians are now classified as overweight or obese - the highest rates ever.
It is predicted that obesity rates will double within the next 20 years, and the health implications are dire with obesity linked to diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, sleep apnoea, fertility issues, gallstones, kidney stones and joint and limb issues. That’s not including the social and emotional impacts.
While there are a multitude of diets out there, cutting out carbs, eliminating whole food groups, living on liquids only and other ridiculous fads, they won’t sustain long-term weight loss.
According to dietitians Justine Hawke and Sally Johnston, the key to losing weight and keeping it off is to simply cut down the fat and sugar consumed. But this is easier said than done.
Nearly everyone will encounter bullying at some stage of their lives. It usually begins in the schoolyard and it is expected that as we mature, the bullying will stop – but does it?
Schoolyard bullying – the torment of one child by another – is often carried through to the workplace. It represents a grab for control by an insecure, inadequate person in an attempt to exercise power through the humiliation of the target.
Amanda* had worked for the same company for over 10 years and she was happy in a job she loved.
But after a sudden re-structure, things started to go horribly wrong and Amanda became the object of victimisation and workplace bullying.
For 12 months the bully continued and shattered Amanda’s life. She became stressed, depressed and started having panic attacks. She was simply too scared to go into work. And she has no idea why.
While the term ‘miracle cream’ is often touted to gain attention, Caroline’s Cream really is a miracle cream, and for 24-year-old Kuri Leonard from WA who had suffered from severe eczema, it’s changed her life.
“I had eczema as a child due to food allergies which I outgrew. After the birth of my son and daughter I suffered badly from postnatal depression and anxiety and my rash returned but only to my wrist. We put it down to anxiety, and I was treated with anti depressants etc. but this did nothing for my rash.
“I’d had the rash on and off after I had my son (who is almost 5!) but it came back with an absolute vengeance after my daughter (who is 15 months) was born. I had had the rash continuously for over a year, and had tried various creams on the market such as QV, Bio Oil, Calendula etc., but none worked. Steroid creams did work but only for a small amount of time and as soon as I stopped applying it would come back even worse.

Oktoberfest Brisbane prides itself on its authenticity, which is why it is constantly voted as one of the top 10 Oktoberfests in the world. And nothing is more authentic or anticipated than the beer.
Two of the flagship beers are hand-crafted by the esteemed Tucher Brewery (or Tucher Bräu that was founded in 1672 and is one of the oldest breweries in Bavaria), especially for Oktoberfest Brisbane. These beers are not available anywhere else in Australia. In fact, they are not available in Germany either so the beer is unique and exclusive to Oktoberfest Brisbane.
Keeping true to German tradition, Tucher brew the beer in accordance to the *German Purity Law using only the best quality and pure ingredients. You will not find any added chemicals in Oktoberfest Brisbane’s beers.
The beer takes two months to brew as it naturally ferments – no additives to speed up the brewing process – and the kegs will arrive from Germany just prior to the festival beginning, ensuring the beer is fresh and flavoursome.

Anyone who suffers from night sweats will tell you how uncomfortable, inconvenient and even embarrassing they are. Even if you’ve got the air-conditioner on a sub zero temperature, you simply cannot keep cool.
Night sweats occur for many reasons including menopause, diabetes, obesity, anxiety and even andropause, which is male menopause.
However, cancer patients also suffer terribly and unfortunately until now there have not been many options to help keep the night sweats away. While Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) has been shown to help reduce night sweats, breast cancer patients cannot take HRT.
It was from this observation that leading Australian Oncology Nurse, Mary Ryan, saw a real need to help keep these cancer patients comfortable, and cool as possible.
Don't forget to say you found them on OzLance.
