Designer, Illustrator and FIne Artist

I have been self employed and/or freelancing for over 30 years in the arts field. I’ve trained in Fine Art, Illustration and Design and have always had a strong love for Surface Pattern Design, especially textile and greeting card design in both hand drawn and digital designs. My qualifications include a BA of Fine Arts (Printmaking), a Degree in Illustration and a Cert IV in Design at The Graphic Design School. I have also completed the ABSPD Design Course (4 Modules) from the UK.

I have so much to offer having a background in Design, Art and Illustration as well as Graphic Design.  I am able to follow briefs easily, being quick to understand brand design and art requirements. 

Some of my strengths are:

• Research and identify key seasonal print design & trends
• Create repeats and colour separations, as well as alternate print colour ways
• Brainstorming themes and story boards and developing design boards for design concepts
• Product Design and Development
• Produce seasonal trend mood boards for presentation for buyers & senior leadership team.
• Developing ranges based on historical success data
• Developing artworks – yardage and placement prints
• Produce artwork for apparel, accessories & home furnishing prints that creatively addresses the given brief and is commercial
• No infringement on copyright as all my work is my creation.
• Publication Design
• Sales Collateral Design
• Ensure that all artwork is technically accurate for production and produced in a timely manner.
• Strong knowledge in colour theory and management and a have an eye for colour, texture and patterns

• Digital Design

  I have thorough computer knowledge in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, Mac proficient and even am able to assist with photography that may be required. Being self employed means that I am very self-motivated, am very entrepreneurial by nature and have a high level of personal resourcefulness and have excellent time management and organisational skills. I have good listening skills, interpersonal and verbal communication skills and even though I am in a offsite position am still a great team player with a pro-active and positive attitude.

  I am a perfectionist in everything that I do, pay high attention to detail in my work and quality has always been of the utmost importance to me. I pay strong attention to detail but am aware that all of this has to happen to strict timelines and deadlines.

  Beyond my technical knowledge, my enthusiasm, passion and dedication, I also have a background in business so I understand the needs of both the artistic and the business side of the world. My knowledge in Design enforces the importance of being able to adhere to brand positioning and ensuring that the development and design of the products is clearly directional, whilst also being able to research current and future trends and colour direction.
