We require an application that can navigate to any network folder and graphically display all .pdf files within the chosen folder. As many as 200 documents will reside in any single folder and they must then be displayed on a large touch screen as a multipage .pdf on a single canvas for the purposes of browing via touch commands. Navigation/viewing of files will be full screen scrolling left to right with older versions of .pdf files appearing directly above. (Remember microfiche) Once navigation in this manner is proven, we will then implement rotation of files (90 degree steps) and the ability to comment, freehand mark up and print.

bits
  1. I have a sample of the program I could email to you to try...it needs more development! Please contact me with a contact address.
  2. As I don't have access to a touch screen, I will need to talk/negotiate with you to see if I can successfully undertake this project.
  3. I look forward to working with you!

Is there a particular hardware/software platform you are targeting?

David D.

Windows based for now.

bits
  1. Is this an application for windows?
  2. Is it a one off, stand alone application or does it need ongoing development/upgrade/support?
  3. I have no experience with touch screens but think normal mouse actions will support them. Is this so?

'Yes' to windows app. It is a one off, but no doubt will reqiure some support for bugs and possibly hardware or software compatibility issues. There will be some upgrades in the future, but this depends on whether the speed of document browsing is good enough, we are not going to upgrade something that is too slow. All of our required functions presently exist in Adobe Acrobat, but I cannot be 100% sure if all these functions can translate to touch.

hi, could you please more elaborate on platform requirement or programming language preferences ?

David D.

My preference is for Windows based. My first thoughts were that if Windows cannot handle the speed of browsing required then I would look at any another system. Since multipage pdf files are easily handled by Windows then speed should not be an issue for Windows.
