About the project

We are a small software company based in Brisbane, wanting to have a couple of web pages written in HTML. The information for the pages is designed to be "getting started" tips, focusing on our software, which we can help you curate the information for. These tips will be displayed inside our software.

The tips will be similar across the Windows and Mac versions of our software, but specific for that particular operating system (e.g. "open Windows Explorer" and "open Finder").

These tips/pages will need to be updated periodically as we update the software - we are keen to hire for repeat business if we are satisfied on how you complete the task.

The job would entail:

  • generate "getting started" help for our software
  • written in HTML (min-width: 500px;)
  • taking screenshots of the software
  • writing instructional text
  • creating pages using text and screenshots

I presume you are done with the documentation of the software. If not, then may I know how you intend to explain the working of the software. Would you explain it through a video or by discussing.

Read and understood your requirements, experience doing similar tasks and I'm sure you will be happy with the quality of both the written instructions and screenshots. Access to both Windows and OS X to generate screenshots and some experience working with the WinForm and WebBrowser class and virtual machines running IE 7, very conscience of compatibility issues.

Hi there, Just a few questions I want to clarify. Does the html pages needs to be mobile browser friendly. I'm asking because it affect how the html are designed to begin with, making it the content mobile browser friendly doesn't mean a jump in hours needed. Second question is about the environment which the html page is accessed from. (e.g client desktop browser access html page from internet; client access html page which is hosted on internet via your software's embedded html viewer control...)

    Thank

    cheers,

    Dan

No, as the pages will be limited to 500px wide, and a set height across all of the other tips.

Specifically, there will be a WebBrowser inside a WinForm that will load this page. The WebBrowser control will load HTML pages the way IE 7 does, so you may need to prepare for that/add in compatibility.

Hi, Just hoping to get some more detail around how these pages will be displayed. I note you say it will be displaying inside the product, rather than in a browser. Does that mean that the styling requirements are fairly simple, is it to match existing help documentation? Do you happen to know if the viewer supports CSS?

    Regards,

    Hamish

Specifically, there will be a WebBrowser inside a WinForm that will load this page. The WebBrowser control will load HTML pages the way IE 7 does, so you may need to prepare for that/add in compatibility.

Styling requirements will be given to you, and you will be able to embed CSS <link> tags into the HTML page (and it will render) - but keep in mind that the WebBrowser control is set to IE7 compatibility.
