Drafting Criteria:

Scope of Work: Provide quote for production of preliminary structural and mechanical layout sketches of a novel machine concept for the fitness industry. Simple sketches with primary dimensions to define layout and approximate member sizes for now but should lead straight in to detailed design drawings for the right drafter (will discuss quote for this after preliminary drawings).

Approximately 10 hours work to begin, with potential immediate further work. Drawing list to include a minimum of plan, elevation and general arrangement drawings, or a basic 3D model. Drawing list and detail required now and over future stages can be discussed.

  • Industry experience or a sound understanding of drafting from Preliminary Sketch stage to Detailed Design drawings (and potentially Shop/Manufacturing drawings if required) as the work progresses,
  • Drafting in 2D CAD (with Isometric General Arrangements), or 3D Modelling. Preferred software, AutoCAD or Solidworks, but others considered.
  • Ability to produce engineering drawings for above stages; Sketches for now, but detailed drawings to follow immediately,
  • Experience with drafting structural frames and mechanical systems layouts, ideally wire ropes and sheave blocks, rollers and tracks, springs, carriages, hooks, pins, square and round hollow sections, bolted connections, welds, preformed bars etc.,
  • Comfortable working independently, with suppliers, and an engineer to acquire necessary drafting resources, dimensions, local suppliers etc.,
  • Ideally, supply of an example detailed drawing (of any nature, by emailed PDF) demonstrating knowledge, skill level and quality.

Hi,

I'm a mechanical engineer and also have a Cert IV in Engineering Drafting. I have extensive experience with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD and drafting to Australian Standards. In my current role I have designed/detailed a number of varying projects from structural steel platforms to mechanical shaft assemblies. I actually also have experience in designing and modelling counterweight systems in a mining environment so am well versed in specifying pulleys, ropes, etc.

I work roster work so this job would be my sole focus during my time off, rather than being a second priority with my full time job.

If you have any questions or would like to see some examples of my work, feel free to contact me.

Regards,

Nick

3D CAD Brisbane

Hi My cost is $50/ hour + GST. I have worked with all many different materials creating, 3D and 2D CAD drawings as well as making prototypes. Despite my folio looking mostly like fashion accessories and accessories, most of my experience is fabricating steel, such as designing and constructing cattle yards, designing and making machinery parts. I can produce engineering drawings in PDF, and files in whatever format is required for CAM if necessary, but will require tolerances with any pivoting or sliding, moving mechanisms. Please supply your email if you need any samples of work.

Hello Cam,

I am a Mechanical Engineer specialising in the engineering design of novel mechanisms and machinery. I am currently starting an Engineering Consultancy here in Sydney. I am looking for projects that I can passionately apply my skill set to and create great solutions for use as examples of my best work in a portfolio.

I have experience in designing custom testing apparatus for mechanical engineering research. These systems required significant conceptual development and detail design for manufacture. I have a holistic approach to the design and development process and pride myself on being able to deliver functional results. I have an extensive working knowledge of mechanics, materials and manufacturing processes.

I have proven the ability to understand the needs of the clients and direct a project in the most efficient direction to achieve the best possible solution. My recent work has been on developing the mechanical systems for a new product being launched in the US later this year. I can provide references from this projects to validate my work ethic and approach.

I am an efficinet sketcher and very experienced 3D CAD modeller. I model with Fusion 360. This software has all the necessary modelling, rendering and drawing tools that the mainstream packages have (i.e Solidworks, which I have 10 years experience with). Also, there is a free version of Fusion 360 so it is possilble for you to open files and inspect the design iterations yourself, making the back and forth process of design development more effecient. I am happy to email you through examples of manufacuting drawings I have developed in the past.

My rate is $60/hr. I am based here in Sydney, so I will be able to meet with you about the project and can be in direct contact with local suppliers and manufactures when developing a quote.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Dr Alex O'Keefe PhD in Mechanical Engineering Sydney, Australia
