We are seeking expressions of interest to develop a new mobile Hospitality based App that has several purposes. Primarily designed to simplify the booking of hotel/motel style accommodation for frequent (corporate/government) travellers who already have their favourite places to stay at each destination, the app features several other unique features as detailed below.

The App is being developed for integrated use with an undisclosed Hotel Reservation System developer. The App has three primary objectives:

  1. To simplify the process for a guest to book a room directly at their favourite Hotel/Motel making it easier than using a commission-able Online Travel Agent alternative, when they already have a preferred property at which to stay; AND

  2. To be used by the Motel Manager to encourage new and existing repeat clientele to maintain their loyalty to the property and to inherently discourage defection to competing properties in their immediate area; AND

  3. For the Reservation System developer to use the rich feature set of this App as a marketing tool to help drive sales and cross-migrations from competing reservation platforms.

The App will be developed in 3 or more stages. This project briefing is STAGE ONE (1) ONLY. Bidders are requested to ONLY provide their bid for the work required for Stage One (1), not the entire App development. Other stages will be bid for separately.

Stage One (1) is to develop the initial look and feel of the App, using the Android Platform ONLY (iOS versions will be required in a later stage, so please DO NOT bid if you are unable to reproduce the App in iOS at a later stage). We have a very clear vision of what we require the App to do and how it should function, so we anticipate very little re-work, especially during Stage One.

We are seeking an extremely modern looking App that is fast but most importantly, it must be user friendly, simple and intuitive to use. We want to see your creative flair in how you present the screens and the data, based on a mock-up (to be provided), which is to be used as a guide only. You are free to let your visual imagination run wild, just remember this is a professional App for professional users so it needs to maintain high visual standards - i.e. it wont have an Anime look to it nor will it use basic clip art images.

Some mandatory requirements include:

  • Target clickable buttons/links should (where possible) expand beyond the borders of the target area to reduce miss clicks by end users.
    • Text areas should all be placed over transparent backgrounds so that images or background colours do not wash out the text appearance or make it difficult to read.
  • The App will contain approximately 12 screens (including login and settings screens) as well as other detailed screens for which a mock-up will be provided to the successful bidder(s) prior to commencement.
    • A social media login capability would be advantageous (i.e. Click here to connect with Facebook etc...)
    • The App’s access to functions including the device Camera, Location Services & Contacts List should be functioning in Stage 1
    • The App will require access to the devices internal Camera, Contacts, Date/Time & Location Services and these should be functional during stage One (1).
    • The App will need to make an external call to Booking.com and return the top 5 results to a search results dialog box. Note: This capability does NOT need to be functional in Stage One (1), but we do expect to see a plan for how you will achieve this.
    • The App will also require the ability to send/receive & process xml files to and from the Reservation System developer via their Amazon Web Services (AWS), however connectivity and functionality for these functions is not required for Stage One (1). Pop-up boxes containing intended functionality descriptions for these areas is sufficient at this time
  • Developers will need to provide full documentation for the App during each Stage of development (including Stage 1) with commented source code.

Successful bidders should be able to demonstrate a history of successful commercial App Development, preferably have at least one (1) Australian Based mobile App client reference that we can contact, and be able to develop the app in both Android (Stage 1 onward) & iOS (stages 3 onward). Any experience developing Apps within the Hospitality Sector would be seen as advantageous however this is not mandatory. Selected bidders may be asked to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement before commencing work on this App.

REMEMBER: Stage One is about showing us your visual and coding capability - not producing the entire App. Bid pricing for Stage One (1) is expected to be under AUD$500.00 and ideally we want an Australian Based developer.

Note: We reserve the right to engage multiple developers to compare proposals during the early stages of this App development, before inviting selected candidates to proceed to Stage TWO (2).

Hey mate,

Took a look over the wireframes you've put together and the functionality is quite clearly labelled and laid out. The screens are quite busy and there is a lot to each of them. I see there are a number of scroll bars, is there anything missing from the wireframes in terms of required design?

I understand the difference between iOS and Android designs - font styles, buttons, and of course the back button on Android. Here's some notes we just shared with an existing client: https://cms-assets.tutsplus.com/uploads/users/810/posts/23616/image/segmented.png https://image.slidesharecdn.com/android-vs-iphone-design-130111110206-phpapp01/95/android-vs-iphone-differences-in-ui-patterns-and-design-9-638.jpg?cb=1357902299

There are 10 screens in your wireframe and you mentioned 12 in total including the login and settings page. 13 including a forgot password screen. I would expect the first screen to take 4 hours and then the rest of the screens should take 30mins-2 hours each. This estimate is considers the responsibility of taking the current wireframes and requirements and providing a graphical user interface. We can provide UX mapping, requirements elicitation and documentation in addition to this.

Please send an email to rich@rtbom.com and I'd be happy to share some design examples

Thanks

Rich

PS - naming of last screen is Search Results Screen #2 and should be Share a Property [ just to show I read it :) ]

Hi,

We're interested in your project and believe we have the expertise to execute on your requirements. We work with a team of off-shore developers who have a wealth of experience, having delivered projects for major Australian clients like UNSW, as well as a number of Indian startups and companies.

I've had a good look over your requirements and wireframes and had a discussion with our UX designer. While we're confident in the idea and a lot of your assumptions, we do have some suggestions/concerns we'd like to raise before entering development.

Rather than listing them here, would you be able to either send an email to mitchell.sabine@medicitech.in or give me a call on 0400928535?

This would be helpful to clarify a few things.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
