Hello Ruth - Would you please advise the number of A4 typed pages you anticipate on average per week (Thu & Fri), and whether it is straight transcription (i.e. straight typing and paragaphing) - or is there layout work involved also.
Thanks
I require a transcriptionist to assist me regularly on Thursdays and Fridays during university semesters. Must have had three years' transcription experience and have excellent grammar and spelling and be prepared to Google unknown words.
$1.40 per digital minute initially but $1.50 pdm within a month of starting, if work is of a good standard.
As a writer and transcriptionist, I have considerable experience in working with lectures and other academic material. I am currently a senior editor and writer for a an Australian university journal. I'd be very interested in discussing your project in more depth, as well as listening to a sample of the audio and seeing any prior transcriptions you have to ensure I'd be a suitable assistant.
Your proposed rate seems fair, and the price PDM is what is quoted above.
When you say 'straight transcription', I think you are referring to copy typing rather than transcription typing. Transcription is converting audio files into text, so the number of A4 types pages is not really the issue, rather the number of audio minutes.
I would anticipate six hours work per day. An hour of audio takes about three times (minimum) the length of the audio to type, so that would equate to about two hours audio each day, or maybe a little less.
If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
