About the project

My company has a software platform for vehicle fleet management with customers in Australia, NZ, USA and UK.

I am looking for a part-time project manager on an ongoing basis to assist customers with implementing the system within their organisation.

As our sales team signs up a new customer, it will be your role to manage the customer relationship through to launch. Post-launch your involvement winds down and the customer is handed over to our help desk (support tickets).

Your role is to guide the customer through the implementation process, using our checklist.

This will involve:

  • Conference calls with the customer
  • Timeline planning and reporting
  • Learning our product inside-out to answer configuration questions they may have
  • Coordinate any changes required to the software to accommodate requirements

To be clear this is not a selling role. The customer has already signed up and is now looking for help and guidance towards a successful launch. You will, however, be required to acquire extensive product knowledge so that you can advise the customer in a meaningful way.

The software rolled out to customers is the one singular version, which has within it a bunch of configuration settings that can customise the functionality. So we only ever implement the one version (release) but turn configuration settings on or off to achieve what the customer is looking for.

The customer normally performs these customisations themselves, but they usually don't know what options are available to them, or what needs to be done to achieve their requirements.

The role does not have fixed hours but is moreso driven by customer availability. Travel is not required - happy for you to work remotely. We have an audio-bridge to schedule conference calls through.

So in a nutshell:

  • Learn the product
  • Be introduced to a new customer
  • Discuss with the customer their implementation time line
  • Set and manage expectations, roles, responsibilities
  • Provide them with a project plan - timings, who needs to do what and by when
  • Guide them through the configuration process
  • Have regular conference calls to ensure the launch date will be achieved

Thank you for considering the position and if interested, please provide a brief summary of your experience in similar type roles.

Hi! The system is ASP.NET (vb), SQL and Jquery. This role is more customer facing so it would be handy to understand the platform but moreso about helping and planning with the customer. Timeframe is immediate start and ongoing, I would expect around 10 hours a week max. Timezone is AEST but may on occasion require conf calls to other time zones, like NZ, USA and UK.
