I need about 15 minutes worth of home film converted into a 5 minute audition video for the reality tv show, the block. I don't need extensive editing, I just need it to look smart, and be entertaining in a way that will catch the producers attention. Payment is $20 upon receiving the final product, and if the video lands us an audition, a further $50 will be paid. The film you will be working with is mostly interview/tour and will need to fulfill all requirments in 4.40 minutes. Thanks. (This is a one time job)
Amie, like many credible editors, my hourly rate is $75 +GST (many are higher.) My edit suite charges out from a minimum half day and provides the use of equipment and software worth in excess of $10,000. Typically a "splash N dash" project like yours with an expert polish (providing your material was shot professionally) would cost in the vicinity of $330 as a bargain. Even that would not allow for any colour correction and audio enhancements. I only mention this because you need to have some realistic expectations. Anyone doing your job for $20 is unlikely to provide you with a worthwhile audition clip. I guess it all depends how much you want the gig you're auditioning for. Please take my comments as constructive. Our skills have been hard learned.
