Required: PHP/mySQL system re-build for a sports competition.

We have our own custom built system made by one of the owners of the company, however the owner is self-taught in PHP/mySQL and over many years, has just added things as required.

The system itself in comparison to what other sports competitions have far exceeds - however due to this owner leaving the business, the entire system needs to be rebuilt from scratch as it has no framework and is messy coding - making it difficult for the remaining owner to get changes made in the future.

We are looking for someone in Melbourne who can meet with the outgoing owner twice a week to show progress and work closely with, which will include keeping the other owner in the loop. The worker would then work remotely other days.

This project is urgent and needs to be completed in 4-6 weeks.

The system includes 4 areas to the website:

  1. The main website where teams and players register and find out information
  2. The Management System for the day time office to process registrations and invoices, and create fixtures etc.
  3. The Night System which is what is used at multiple venues to record scores, payments made, pays etc.
  4. An umpire portal that allocates shifts for the week.

This project in itself will be about replicating the current system to what it already does. However for the right person, it will also include ongoing contract work as the remaining owner will want to implement their own features.

Thank you.

Hi, This sounds like a great project to take on. I am now a freelancer developer based in Melbourne that has built custom systems for other Melbourne based business. Previous to this I worked as a business analyst on a major IT project for one of Australia's biggest companies. That experience of careful gathering of requirements, adaptability and communication will prove invaluable for for this work.

My estimate is obviously just based on what is provided in the description and is therefore fairly rough. Happy to provide a more detailed quote after viewing the current system.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Regards, Hamish

Difficult to judge the quote without being more familiar with the system. However as PHP and MySQL is my preferred framework and the project sounds interesting I am happy to discuss your needs and budget further. I work fast and the resulting code is clean.

Are you particularly tied to PHP/MySQL as technologies? More than happy to work with them but what you have described I think can be achieved faster and more effectively with other frameworks.

We already have excellent developers in India however this project is a must for Melbourne, Australia - otherwise we would use our team in India already. Thank you though.
