Thanks for your post. We're a web design/development and web hosting outfit based in Melbourne and have developed many different types of websites for our clients, including for a range of NFP clients, so we are well aware of the cost pressures you face.

As others have mentioned, a WordPress site would suit your requirements, allowing you to manage you site and it's content without our ongoing assistance.

We'll present you with a few mock-up designs and work from there. For the price range, we would use an existing theme, then customise to suit your needs and liking with the images you supply.

As you're a club, there are many other "nice to have's" you might consider, including a member area where paid members could access a specific area of the site, or an online forum where people could post about different topics. We could also integrate your Facebook page in order to generate awareness across both mediums. Perhaps a calendar with events listed?

We also offer hosting with a specific plan for Not for Profits that is affordable and generous in allowances. You could also utilise the email features of this service if you so wish.

If you have the images and copy ready to go, we couldn't see this taking more than 7-10 business days. We'd want to be sure the design and scope we provide you with is spot-on and as such, we don't charge additional fees if that time-frame overruns.

Ongoing, we also handle many of the major headaches for our customers. We continue to manage the WordPress software and plugins, keeping everything up to date and secure. We've also been known to perform small changes and requests at no charge to customers when we can fit them in.

As for the cost of the website, you have the choice of paying it as a once off fee (50% up-front, 50% on completion), or we can come to a payment arrangement over 3, 6 or 12-months to help with your clubs' cash-flow.

You might see our bid as 'cheap', but don't fear - we're not outsourcing your work overseas. All of our work if performed in-house. We've just become highly efficient at creating and customising these types of sites.

Hi Danielle, Thanks for your detailed post. Your site sounds perfect for a simple wordpress site with a premade theme. Premade themes are great for NFPs because they let you get a professional design without the cost. It will also let you have as much control over the site as you want, making it easy to post up events and run a blog if you want. You can get Australian based hosting for a small wordpress site for ~$10 a month and this would suit your needs.

I'm always keen to help NFPs out and have a bit of spare time coming up, so I'd be happy to help out. Please note that I wouldn't be available for much ongoing support - happy to help out with the odd question but I'd be handing the site over to you when I'm done.

With 20 years experience in both web and graphic design, some of which has been for NFP groups and organisations (as well as musicians :) ), we have a good understanding of where you are coming from and how your NFP group needs a project like this to proceed. We also understand limited budgets and how to work within them to ensure a satisfactory outcome for both parties.

We can offer you up to 10 pages (which you may not require all of), any graphic and image manipulation (resizing etc), formatting of all provided text, initial SEO (which includes adding SEO rich content, SEO tags and coding as well as adhering to all popular web standards) and site navigation for the price shown.

Having previously worked with (and been a part of) a 4WD group with what appears to be similar requirements to yours we are sure we can complete the site to your satisfaction. However we also understand that with such a brief description there are bound to be things that get forgotten (by both parties) and for that reason we are happy to discuss the full requirements further to ensure we are both on the same page. One such area of discussion would be whether CMS is needed, from your limited description (and what we achieved with our previous 4WD group) there doesn't appear to be an immediate need for CMS, however it can be used and it's something worth discussing before anything is agreed upon.

While we are happy to recommend hosting options they are only recommendations (based on 20 years of making websites) and we can work with your chosen hosting service. We can also compare like services and discuss which solution best fits your needs in easy to understand terms, not sales jargon. We can also recommend options relating to email services and domain name registration if you require it.

Once the domain name and hosting have been organised and are operational such a project should not take much more than a week (from when we receive the images and data) to get up and running. You will then be offered a working site to preview and proof read before the site goes live and SEO work is initiated.
